View From The Loch with Brendan Rodgers

06-07-2023

One of modern footballs most successful managers, who has won a host of leagues and cups, took time out to speak exclusively to View from the Loch!

Rodgers was born in the seaside village of Carnlough in County Antrim, Northern Ireland and is the eldest of five boys.

He began his career at Ballymena United, where he stayed until he was signed by Reading at the age of 18, although a genetic knee condition forced him to retire at age 20. He remained at Reading as a coach and then academy director. He was then invited by José Mourinho to join Chelsea as youth manager in 2004, later being promoted to reserve manager in 2006.

In 2012 Rodgers became the new manager of Liverpool, whom he led to runners up position in the league in the 2013/14 season – and then became manager of Celtic in 2016 leading them to an undefeated domestic season in his first year and trebles in both of his first two seasons.

He left Celtic for Leicester City in February 2019, and left there April of this year having won the FA Cup.

View From The Loch with Sir Geoffrey Boycott

05-31-2023

Sir Geoffrey made his international debut in a 1964 test match against Australia. He accumulated large scores – he is the equal fifth-highest accumulator of first-class centuries in history, eighth in career runs and the first English player to average over 100 in a season (1971 and 1979).

After his playing career ended, Boycott became a cricket commentator on radio and television.

Geoffrey’s views are much sought after and this interview finds Boycott in typical combative form, discussing all sports including his view of Rory and Nick Faldo.

Lyle first visited Loch Lomond in the summer of ‘93 where within one hour he had decided he wanted to become involved in the development of Loch Lomond Golf Club.

View From The Loch with Duncan Campbell

05-16-2023

Duncan's passion for golf started early, playing from the age of five and attending tournaments where he could. His passion for tour predictions and golf betting stemmed from his father, a golf journalist for many popular UK broadsheets whilst he was growing up. He spent most summers going along to events at Loch Lomond amongst others, taking advantage of the opportunity to watch as much golf as he could!

He runs Golf Betting Club with his brother Neil.

View From The Loch with Gareth Lord

05-10-2023

Gareth Lord was a talented golfer in his own right, in fact he was good enough to be picked for the England Boys team alongside Lee Westwood.

He earned a scholarship to play golf at the University of Tennessee, then returned to Europe and eventually found himself coaching the game in Germany.

Lord established himself as a caddie working alongside Robert Karlsson, and in 2008, the Swede won the European Tour’s Order Of Merit and Lord was named caddie of the year.

Through his exploits with Karlsson, the Coventry man made himself one of the most highly respected caddies in the game, and in 2013 found himself alongside Henrik Stenson.
